As a C-suite executive, Mark has conceptualized, designed, built, tested, submitted and launched over 30 new class 2 & 3 medical device products. He holds a Masters of Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and Masters of Business from St. Thomas University.

A quality and regulatory leader with both domestic and global experience able to predictably achieve medical device clearances as well as assure compliance with global medical device regulations. Responsibilities include quality assurance, design assurance, regulatory compliance, clinical evaluations and management of audits and inspections for industry leading companies.
Over 35 years experience and a leader in the Clinical and Regulatory space for large Strategic Medical device firms as well as start ups. He serves as an advisor to HFS. He has worked for Medtronic, Boston Scientific, St. Jude Medical, Guidant, and Spinal Modulation. He holds a Bachelors from University of Minnesota.
Over 40 years experience in the implantable cardiac space. He holds over 35 patents, and over 50 pending applications and publications. He has successfully lead many implantable programs to commercialization.

Currently a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Borlaug is particularly interested in heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. He is currently pursuing several clinical studies examining which abnormalities contribute to functional limitation and symptoms of heart failure, as well as treatment studies for patients with heart failure. His publications number over 280, and Patents over 50.
Currently a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases within the Department of Internal Medicine and a professor of pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology within the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at Mayo Clinic. He is a consultant in cardiac electrophysiology. He is also program director for the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Fellowship and director of strategic collaboration for the Center for Innovation at Mayo Clinic
